Speaker: Gualtiero Piccinini (University of Missouri)
Gualtiero Piccinini is the Florence G. Kline Professor of Philosophy and Curators’ Distinguished Professor in the Philosophy Department at the University of Missouri, Columbia. His research sits at the intersection of philosophy of mind, neuroscience, and computer science, with a primary focus on how the mind and brain compute. He is the author of foundational books including Physical Computation: A Mechanistic Account and Neurocognitive Mechanisms: Explaining Biological Cognition, both published by Oxford University Press. He holds a Ph.D. in History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Pittsburgh and is a recipient of the Kacyra Prize for his contributions to the philosophy of computing.
