Cognition in Action Lectures – Richard Pettigrew

Speaker: Richard Pettigrew (University of Bristol)

Richard Pettigrow is Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Bristol, UK.

Richard Pettigrew is a philosopher working in formal epistemology, decision theory, and the philosophy of mathematics. His research examines the principles of statistical reasoning, how groups should aggregate individual opinions into collective judgements, and how to organise collective inquiry so that it reaches the truth quickly and reliably. He also works on rational choice in transformative decisions—where our choices can change who we are and what we value—and on questions of fairness and inclusion in higher education.
